GUJRANWALA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a man and woman accused of stealing money from bank accounts belonging to recipients of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
According to FIA’s cyber-crime unit’s assistant director Asif Iqbal, the accused, Waseem Farooq, is the bank manager of a private bank in Lahore’s Defence area. The bank had data of BISP recipients from over the country and Farooq looked after that data.
Farooq forged ATM cards of BISP recipients to withdraw cash himself. He was caught while trying to withdraw cash from an ATM in Gujranwala. FIA has recovered around a hundred fake ATM cards from his custody.
