CM warns officials against delaying welfare projects

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday expressed strong displeasure over the delay in some welfare projects and warned the officials concerned against any negligence towards serving the masses.

Presiding over a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat, the chief minister reviewed progress made on different development schemes started for the prosperity of remote and backward areas.

Addressing administrative secretaries during the meeting, he directed that work should be speedily be completed to develop remote areas and said that no delays would not be tolerated in this regard.

“I need performance and the people delaying welfare schemes will be held accountable,” he warned.

The chief minister directed that healthcare and educational projects should be completed in time and a report should also be submitted. Buzdar directed to expedite work on welfare schemes and added that cleanliness arrangements in big cities should be improved as well.

He also showed his indignation over poor cleanliness arrangements and presence of filth in Dera Ghazi Khan city and directed that solid waste should be properly disposed of.

The chief minister said that only those officers would remain on their posts who will show performance because the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government believes in service delivery and it is the responsibility of agencies concerned to achieve targets within the given time frame.

Senior member of the Board of Revenue, additional chief secretary (Home), administrative secretaries, principal secretary to the chief minister and other high officials attended the meeting.
