ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Secretary General Farhatullah Babar, criticising the government for awarding the contract of construction of Mohmand Dam to Adviser to Prime Minister’s on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood’s company Descon, termed it unethical.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Babar said that there should be a transparent investigation into the matter.
He said that PPP was waiting for the government’s reaction over the issue, however, its silence has created more questions which is why the party was demanding a transparent investigation into the matter. Until the investigation is completed, PM’s adviser should step down from his post, he said.
“Is it right to award the contract to Descon by rejecting the bid of the other bidder on a technical basis as it would have been better to announce new bidding after rejecting the bid of a party on a technical basis,” he added.
He further said, “The government’s explanation that Descon has only 30 per cent share is ridiculous and is an attempt to hide the real issue.”
Meanwhile, PPP leader Murtaza Wahab said that the party would submit an application to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to look into the matter.
