PTI MPA vows to restore discarded statue of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto

LAHORE: Sindh Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Haleem Adil Sheikh on Thursday took to micro-blogging social media platform Twitter to share pictures of a statue of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto discarded at the H. M. Khoja Complex which houses a museum and library in Shaheed Benazirabad District, previously known as Nawabshah District, vowing to restore it.

“The condition of Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s statue in Shaheed Benazirabad should be an embarrassment for the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Inshallah, we will restore and reinstall the statue,” he tweeted.

However, users of social media offered clarifications stating that the statue was returned to its creator by the museum due to its low quality.

“From the preliminary enquiry of the matter, it has been ascertained that a local artist of Nawabshah made that Mohtarma’s statue and donated it to the museum around three years ago. The statue was not of fair quality artistically, unmatching the exalted and towering personality of Shaheed Mohtarma,” a social media user clarified.

“Therefore, the administration of that time decided to not to install the statue in the museum and returned that back to the artist. Two years back, the same pictures of the statue were circulated in the media after which the administration of that time retrieved the statue and dismantled it. Yet somehow the pictures are being circulated again even though the statue is not there anymore,” the social media user concluded.
