Anupam Kher faces legal trouble for role in ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’

Bollywood actor Anupam Kher and others are reportedly being sued for damaging the image of some top people in the upcoming film The Accidental Prime Minister, Indian media outlets reported.

Lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha filed the case in Muzaffarpur’s Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court stating that Kher and Akshay Khanna, who played the role of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his press adviser Sanjaya Baru in the film respectively, have damaged the image of both of them.

“It hurt me and many others,” he said.

The court has admitted the case and fixed January 8 to hear the case in Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate court.

In his complaint, Ojha said others who have played the role of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra also damaged their image. He has also complained against the film director and producer.

Earlier, Kher who is playing the role of former Indian PM took to Twitter to complain that the trailer of the film is not easily available on YouTube.

“Dear YouTube, I am getting messages and calls that in parts of our country if you type, the trailer of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’, it is either not appearing or at 50th position. We were trending at No 1 yesterday. Please help,” Anupam tweeted.

The Accidental Prime Minister is based on Sanjaya Baru’s book of the same name and will be released on January 11, 2019.
