-Stakeholders demand a complete end of illegal encroachment on QAU land
ISLAMABAD: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprising representatives of Quaid-e-Azam Alumni Association (QAUAA) and QAU Academic Staff Association (ASA), QAU faculty, employees, students and representatives of civil society on Wednesday demanded an end of the complete illegal occupation of the university’s land during a protest staged to force the government to help to vacate QAU’s land from the illegal occupants in front of the Islamabad Press Club.
QAUAA President Sikandar Ahmed Rai, QAU ASA President Dr Aqeel Bukhari, MY University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Hijazi Syed, renowned educationist and scientist Dr A. H Nayyar, Islamabad Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) President Dr Sohail, QAU Students Union founding President Dr Shoaib, and representatives of QAU employees and students spoke on the occasion.
The speakers vowed to continue the movement till the end of complete encroachments of the educational institute. They expressed serious concerns about the lack of action by concerned authorities of the federal government despite the passage of another year.
While sharing the background of the issue, it was revealed that despite the payment for 1,709 Acres, QAU suffers a shortfall of 450 acres of allotted land due to the illegal occupation of 298 acres and non-handing over of 152 acres.
The non-resolution of this issue created a lot of problems in terms of security and development work which included the inability to construct even a boundary wall.
It was decided that all possible options would be utilised for an end of the illegal occupation of QAU land.
