LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Wednesday said that aggressive Indian designs were a threat to regional peace and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had exposed Indian cruelties at every level.

Speaking during a meeting with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who called on the chief minister at his office, Buzdar said that unabated incidents of firing by the Indian army at the Line of Control (LoC) were highly condemnable.

Both the leaders also strongly condemned Indian brutality in occupied Kashmir.

“Continuous silence of the international community over India’s state terrorism in held Kashmir is deplorable,” the chief minister said.

On the matter of development of southern Punjab, Buzdar said that after Bahawalpur, cabinet meetings would be held in other southern divisions as well. “A separate secretariat for southern Punjab will be established during the next fiscal year whereas a separate annual development programme will also be maintained for the region.”

The chief minister said that promises made to the people of southern areas of the province would be fulfilled at every cost.

“The government is mulling the establishment of a cancer hospital in Multan and improvement of conditions at the entry and exit points of southern divisions is also on cards. In addition to it, backward areas will be developed and all the decisions will be made with mutual consultation.”

Buzdar said that their agenda was public service and a sovereign Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan was their destination.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, on the occasion, said that Pakistan had highlighted the Kashmir issue at every forum. “The PTI government believes in maintaining brotherly relations with all countries but no compromise will be made on Pakistan’s sovereignty,” he added.

Federal Parliamentary Secretary Makhdoom Zain Qureshi was also present during the meeting.
