ATC adjourns Imran Farooq murder case till Jan 18

ISLAMABAD: The Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) of Islamabad on Wednesday adjourned a case pertaining to the murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Imran Farooq till January 18.

The prosecution sought the adjournment of the case until the decision of its writ petition by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for calling foreign witnesses. The ATC had already rejected the plea for calling foreign witnesses.

ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjumand during the previous hearing had ordered the prosecution for closing the evidence against which the prosecution sought adjournment till the decision of petition at IHC. The court adjourned the hearing till January 18 as the IHC decision on the prosecution’s petition was expected on January 16.

Three accused Khalid Shamim, Syed Mohsin Ali and Moazzam Ali have been indicted in the case while four others declared as proclaimed offenders. Imran Farooq was murdered outside his house in London on September 16, 2010.
