Drippy beginning for 2019: PMD forecasts two days of rain

LAHORE: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Sunday forecast a two-day rain spell with snowfall in various parts of the country, including Lahore, from Tuesday.

“Rain with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places in Quetta, Zhob, Kohat, Malakand and Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, while light rain is likely at isolated places in Lahore, Peshawar, Mardan, Bannu, DI Khan, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Rawalpindi divisions as well as the federal capital,” a PMD spokesperson said while talking to media.

He expressed the hope that the rain spell would end the foggy conditions, which continued to prevail in the plains of Punjab, upper Sindh, and Peshawar division during the morning/night hours.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Motorway Police advised the commuters to use Motorway Police App ”NHMP Hamsafar” for the latest information about the fog situation.

The people could also get help from the Motorway Police Helpline 130 for guidance while FM-95 channel was also disseminating the latest situation of fog, he added.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that motorway from Lahore to Kot Momen and from Khanewal to Multan had been closed for traffic due to dense fog.

“There is also fog in Swabi and Charsadda and from Pindi Bhatian to Gojra on the motorway and from Lahore to Mian Channu on the National Highway, the spokesperson had said.

Advising to avoid unnecessary traveling, he had also said that drivers have been directed to use fog lights during foggy conditions.
