Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) leader Pir Afzal Qadri was on Sunday admitted to a hospital after complaining of chest pain, according to media reports.

Qadri was shifted to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi from the Gujrat jail, where he is confined over treason charges.

He was brought to the hospital under tight security of Elite Commandos, headed by DSP Kharian Mian Arshad, and was given emergency treatment for over two and a half hours, reports said.

For further diagnostics, the TLP leader was taken to the radiology department, where he underwent a CT scan, chest x-rays and ultrasound test.

Following medical examination, he was admitted to the medical care unit.

Moreover, the Gujrat police was replaced by Rawalpindi police for his security.

Top leaders of the party including Khadim Hussain Rizvi and Qadri were arrested for causing law and order situation after spearheading nation-wide protests over release of Aasia Bibi, a Christian acquitted by the country’s top court of blasphemy charges.

The TLP leaders are now in police custody while they face treason charges.
