Ahsan Iqbal says Imran Khan is a threat to national security

NAROWAL: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal on Sunday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is a major threat to national security.

“No one can maintain the value of rupee for four years artificially. The rupee is receiving kicks like football today and the PM says that he does not know how the value of the rupee fell. A prime minister like that is a threat to national security,” he said while addressing PML-N’s foundation day ceremony.

“The prime minister gifted inflation to the nation and people are now praying for his departure. Imran Khan is still standing on the container,” he said.

Responding to a question, he said that ears should not be lent to the statements of Fawad Chaudhry because he is the loudspeaker of his party.

“Is this the state of Madina where friends of rulers are being favoured?” he questioned.

“We have not sought a National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) from PM Khan but NRO has been given to Aleema Khan,” he added.

He underlined that Pakistan was dismembered when the Muslim League was weakened and the “tragedy of 1971 bears witness to this”.

“Nawaz Sharif emerged as a sepoy of Quaid-e-Azam and infused a new spirit in the Muslim League,” he said, adding that no one can create a crack in the Muslim League and if someone steps out of this caravan then he will become like Chaudhry Nisar.

“Nawaz did not lose power for not paying heed to Chaudhry Nisar’s advice but the party was being punished for making the country impregnable and starting the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor,” he claimed. “The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) used to praise the economic model of the country during PML-N’s tenure but a net of conspiracies was waived and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was declared victorious despite losing the election,” he added.

He further said that the people of Pakistan and its armed forces achieved success in the war or terror because Nawaz fought for the sake of the nation while former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf was only interested in the dollars coming to Pakistan.
