HAVELIAN: Unidentified armed men on Friday gunned down the former city president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Malik Khurram before fleeing the scene.
As a result of the firing, Malik Khurram was killed on the spot near Havelian kutcheri.
The body was shifted to Rural Health Centre (RHC) Havelian for postmortem and the police after registering a case against unidentified assailants have started an investigation.
The police have sent Khurram’s body to a hospital for postmortem examination.
According to the police, Khurram left his house for office and was near the Kutchery parking when someone shot him in his car. Two bullets hit him through the side window and he passed away while being transported to the hospital.
Two of Khurram’s nephews were also present along with him when the incident occurred, however, they remained safe. Police said that the attackers fled the scene following the attack while a search operation has been launched in the area
Khurram served as the party’s city president for three to four years before tendering his resignation, saying that he wanted to focus on his business. Despite his resignation, he remained a member of the PML-N. His father also served as the city president.
