ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Thursday expressed his firm resolve to apprehend 34 culprits involved in Mudarba and Musharka scams besides repatriating the absconders involved in the same scam with the help of Interpol.
Addressing an open court at NAB headquarters regarding complaints against Mudarba and Musharka housing societies, he said that bringing back the looted amount and eradication of corruption was the priority of the anti-graft watchdog. NAB has already deposited a record sum of Rs297 billion in the national exchequer after recovering it from corrupt elements. The chairman patiently listened to people’s complaints in the open court.
He said that the ongoing investigations against fake housing and cooperative societies would be taken to a logical conclusion.NAB had filed a reference in Mudarba scam against Mufti Ehsan in an accountability court in Islamabad.
“Due to excellent prosecution of NAB, the accountability court had sentenced Mufti Ehsan 10 years imprisonment besides imposing Rs9 billion fine,” he said.
The NAB chief after assuming the charge of the coveted post last year announced that he would listen to listen to public complaints on the last Thursday of every month. Since then he has individually listened to public complaints. The NAB chairman also issued orders where necessary to provide solace to the complainants.
The regional bureaus of NAB also listen to public complaints in their respective areas of operation on last Thursday of every month. This gesture has increased the trust of people in NAB.
The NAB chief directed officials of the anti-graft body to computerise public complaints record besides informing them about the latest status of their complaints.
