ISLAMABAD: Keeping in line with holding everyone accountable for their practices, the Capital’s police officials will now investigate their colleagues who failed to book land grabbers, gambling dens, drug pushers, and the beggar mafia in the city.
Chairing a meeting on Thursday, Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Aamir Zulfiqar and other senior police officers termed the past performance of Capital Territory Police (CTP) highly disappointing and ordered departmental inquiries against two superintendents of police (SP), SP Rural Liaquat Khan Niazi and SP Industrial Area Hassam bin Iqbal, for their failure to reduce the crime rate in their respective zones.
The meeting was attended by the senior police officials including senior superintendent of police (SSP) Operations Waqarud Din, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Operations Sardar Ghias Gul, SP Rural Muhammad Umar Khan, zonal deputy superintendents of police (DSP) and all station house officers (SHO).
Furthermore, SHO Qasim Niazi and SHO Malik Liaquat Ali were also suspended for the same reason.
The IGP also ordered an investigation to assert why the police failed to book land grabbers in the rural area.
He directed all inspectors of the rural area to start a crackdown against drug pushers, land grabbers and beggar mafia and grilled his subordinates for the continuous and illogical increase in the Capital’s crime rate.
The IGP further directed SSP Waqarud Din to take action against all his fellow policemen involved in criminal activities. “Take strict action against policemen who help and assist criminals,” he said while adding that patrolling, snap checkings and inspections are to be increased as well.
