LAHORE: Former premier Nawaz Sharif, who is currently locked up at the Kot Lakhpat Jail here, will be allowed to meet his family members on Thursday from 1 pm till 2:30 pm.

Earlier he was allotted inmate number 4470 after being shifted to Lahore from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

Nawaz has been kept in barrack no 1 and all facilities, including newspapers, television, a bed and personal dress have been provided to him.

Meanwhile, his legal team has decided to challenge the accountability court’s verdict in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) next week.

The counsel of the former prime minister is reviewing various legal aspects of the verdict, including Nawaz Sharif’s acquittal from the Flagship case.

It is pertinent to note that on December 24, Nawaz was awarded seven years of jail time in the Al-Azizia reference case, however, the court had acquitted him in the Flagship Investment reference.

In a short verdict, the court had said there was concrete evidence against the former premier in the Al-Azizia reference, and that he was unable to provide a money trail in the case.

“There was not enough evidence to convict Nawaz in the Flagship reference, thus he has been acquitted,” the decision read.

Nawaz was taken into custody from the court premises following the verdict.
