Severe water crisis hits North Karachi Sector 11-A

KARACHI: Residents of North Karachi Sector 11-A are suffering a severe water shortage as water is supplied after a gap of 17 to 18 days.

The tanker mafia and Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) valve staff are jointly profiteering by stealing and selling water at exorbitant rates. The unfair water distribution by the water board, illegal hydrants, water theft and corrupt valve men have devastated the city’s water supply system.

It is almost impossible for a common man, who hardly survive at his salary, to buy a tanker paying a huge amount of Rs6000 to Rs8000 since the tanker is never available at control rate. Neither can they store water for such a long period because no one in the area has huge tanks to store water for 17 to 18 days.

Most of the people either buy water from RO/filter plants or bring it from distant places where the supply is regular.

The residents of the area have appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) to look into the matter.
