KARACHI: The Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) has decried the illegal rise in bus fare in the megacity and appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) to take notice of the highhandedness of private transporters and Sindh transport department’s criminal ignorance.

Karachi PDP President Abdul Hakim Quaid said the transporter mafia has unilaterally increased bus fares in the megacity without any government notification.

He said commuters are being exploited by private transporters but the government of Sindh is playing the role of silent spectator.

He said transporters run buses on cheap CNG but charge a fare on the basis of costly diesel use which is plain fraud. He demanded to regularise public transport sector in the megacity and rationalise bus fares to facilitate commuters.
