PESHAWAR: Like other parts of the country, the Christian community celebrated Christmas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Tuesday.
Churches in the province were decorated in Peshawar and Christmas prayers were offered for the development and prosperity of the country.
Men, women and children visited different churches to celebrate Christmas.
They also decorated their homes with balloons and lights. Churches including the All Saints Church, Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Cathedral Church, Saint Michael Catholic Church and were decorated on the occasion. Security was also deployed at the entrance of all churches.
Civil Societies members said that Pakistan is a Muslim country where minorities enjoy religious freedom. They said Pakistan was passing through critical circumstances wherein schools, mosques, imambargahs and churches and religious places of minorities were targeted by terrorists but now the situation was better and everyone was happy.
They said that nefarious designs of anti-state elements could be defeated through unity and religious harmony.
