LAHORE: The authorities shut down several routes of Punjab Motorway due to heavy fog on Sunday.

As winter has started with its chilling cold, several parts of the province have been witnessing heavy fog. The visibility range in Lahore is zero to 100 metre while motorists on the Khanewal-Multan motorway and highway are also observing heavy smog. “We have shut down M2 line from Lahore to Kot Momin,” motorway spokesperson Imran Ahmed said.

He said that the M1 line from Rashakai to Peshawar has also been shut down.

Ahmed advised the people that they should avoid unnecessary traveling during foggy conditions. He stressed that the use of fog lights in cars is very important to prevent traffic accidents.

He added that the passengers can contact motorway helpline 130 in an emergency.
