LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal on Thursday visited NAB’s Lahore Bureau.
Lahore NAB Director General (DG) briefed the NAB chairman about the city bureau’s overall performance as well as the latest progress about the under-complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations.
The NAB chairman also reviewed the latest progress on the ongoing mage corruption cases including 56 companies’ case, Paragon City Scandal case, and corruption in Punjab Police Funds case.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that NAB is committed to making Pakistan corruption free.
He directed all concerned officers of the anti-corruption watchdog to take necessary steps to conclude all mega corruption cases strictly transparently.
He said that NAB does not believe in a media trial of any of any accused and urged the media to verify all news related to NAB before airing or publishing something. “Avoid speculations which can affect the official proceedings of a case,” he said.
While reviewing facilities being provided to under-trial prisoners in NAB’s lockup, he said that the lockup inmates are being provided faculties in the light of Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. In fact, the accused are being provided with facilities even beyond the jail manual and their self-respect is also being taken care of.
He said that there is no concept of any leniency in inquiry and investigations, as the bureau only conducts inquiries and investigations on concrete and solid evidence.
