Cold, dry weather to persist across country

ISLAMABAD: Met Office on Thursday forecast cold and dry weather in most parts of the country and said that moderate and shallow foggy conditions were likely to continue in a few central/southern parts of Punjab as well as the Peshawar division.

According to the synoptic situations, continental air is likely to persist over most parts of the country during the next few days.

On Thursday, weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country with foggy conditions prevailing in a few areas of central and southern Punjab.

Lowest minimum temperatures were Skardu -09°C, Gupis -07°C, Kalat -06°C, Quetta, Kalam, Hunza, Astore -05°C, Dalbandin -04°C, Gilgit, Malamjabba, Dir -03°C, Chitral, Rawalakot -02°C, Drosh, Bagrote -01°C, Murree -01 C Islamabad 02 C, Peshawar 03 C, Lahore 04 C.

Karachi too was hit by a cold wave, as the minimum temperature was recorded at 9°C for the third night in a row.

Meanwhile, the Motorway Police said the M-1 motorway from Rakshi to the Peshawar Toll Plaza was closed due to fog.

Closures were also reported in Ahmedpur, Chini Goth, Kalashah Kaku and Swabi. Motorists were advised not to commute unnecessarily as visibility lied at only 100 metres.
