ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urged Supreme Court Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar to take suo motu action against those elements who allegedly leaked the JIT report on money laundering and fake accounts scam as it was being aired by different news channels.
The PPP chief stated this while talking to media persons here on Thursday. He attended the 4th Benazir Bhutto ITF Future Championship as a chief guest.
He stated that some journalists had witnessed what the SC-mandated JIT members wrote in the report, hinting at the involvement of some ministers behind the early disclosure. “I pray apex court to take notice of leaking of report and take action against sitting Prime Minister Imran Khan because he is heading the interior ministry,” he added.
Responding a question regarding NAB, he stated that the PPP has no plan to launch any movement against the bureau along with any party. He stated that the government is thinking to make changes in NAB laws, and added that the PPP will consider when a draft is made.
On the corruption reference against Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal said some sections were seeking political revenge, recalling that they have faced such situations in the past as well.
‘LEAKED’ JIT REPORT:
Sections of media on Thursday revealed the findings of the report prepared by the SC-mandated JIT on fake accounts scam which claimed the involvement of several bigwigs in the case.
The report, which carries profiles of over 70 key accused and details of their assets parked abroad, will be presented to the apex court on Monday (December 24).
