KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday issued notices to the Sindh chief secretary and Health secretary, directing them to submit details of the budget until January 19, 2019, over a plea against the Sindh government for not issuing funds to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical College Lyari (SBBMCL).

SBBMCL Vice Principal (VP) Dr Ameer Khaskheli had approached the SHC.

Advocate Ahmed Ali Ghumro, the counsel of the applicant told the court that Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) had expressed concern over lack of facilities in SBBMCL and decreased 50 seats for admission in the college due to the lack of facilities.

The counsel further told the court that the Sindh government neglects the college. He said that the contracts of a few college professors have expired and the future of hundreds of medical students of SBBMCL is at stake.

He said that the funds have not been issued to the college due to a delay in the summary process to Sindh chief minister, chief secretary and others.

The court adjourned the hearing until January 16.
