LAHORE – The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has issued a condemnation against the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for not taking any action against Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry after his assets were proved to be fake.

Chaudhry’s assets, which had been published online last week, were found to be fake after international agency France-Presse investigated the matter.

“This is as big a revelation as Panama Papers,” said senior PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah. “But we know that the prejudiced NAB only takes actions against PML-N, and won’t even touch Fawad Chaudhry – figuratively and otherwise.”

Another senior leader Khawaja Asif said that the magnitude of the scandal was downplayed by the local media as well, given the prevalent censorship.

“Imagine if a PML-N leader had been unveiled like Fawad Chaudhry has been. First of all, even more assets would’ve been revealed – perhaps other nonhuman limbs would’ve been dug out as well. And secondly, the accountability machinery would’ve been functioning on overdrive.”

Meanwhile, PML-N leader Abid Sher Ali maintains that even though Chaudhry’s assets were proved to be fake, it doesn’t mean that the actual assets that he has shouldn’t be probed.

“I am there will be a lot of similarities with the actual assets,” he said
