BENONI: Pakistan cricket team began their tour to South Africa with a three-day practice against South African Invitation XI at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on Wednesday.
This match is the only chance for the guests to warm up before the commencement of first of the three Tests. The first Test will be played on December 26 in Centurion.
Green team, on their tour to South Africa, will play three Tests, five One Day Internationals and three T20s.
Opening batsman Fakhar Zaman, who is suffering a knee injury, is expected to play the practice match. Earlier, it was reported that he might not be able to participate in the Test series owing to his health issues.
Pakistan team is dealing with a serious blow as participation of its two key bowlers in the practice match as well as the boxing day Test on December 26 is doubtful. Fast bowler Muhammad Abbas is suffering from a shoulder injury while spinner Shadab Khan is nursing a groin injury. Both of the players are likely to sit-out of the practice game.
