Suspect arrested, three policemen suspended over Murree tourist incident

RAWALPINDI: Murree Police on Tuesday arrested the main culprit involved in the attack on a female tourist in Murree by hotel agents, said City Police Officer (CPO) Abbas Ahsan in a tweet. The CPO credited his arrest to the hard work of Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP) Murree Ms Faryal Fareed. Moreover, ASP Faryal has said that CPO has suspended three police officials upon misbehaving and attacking a woman.

She said the police post in-charge Mazhar Ikram, and Constables Muharar Ubaid Ullah and Muhammad Afzal have been suspended for negligence of duty.

She further said that police tried to identify the victim woman after the attack but failed, however, she was identified with the name of Sania later.

“The victim is the resident of Ghori town, Rawalpindi,” she added.

 

 

A case has been registered against the suspects on the complaint of Traffic warden because he was present at the moment when the incident happened. She said the key suspect has been identified while three police teams have been constituted for his arrest. She said the suspect was the resident of Nambal, Murree.

The ASP said that requests have been made for more police force and Dolphin force to cope with such incidents in the future.

It is vital to mention here that two alleged hotel agents had misbehaved with a female in the presence of hundreds of tourists a day earlier.
