LAHORE: The Punjab government has finalised decision on forming an independent commission for the accountability of government officers and employees.
The commission has been formed under Conflict of Interest Act 2018 and is planned to be comprised of three members, a financial management expert, a retired civil servant (Grade 20) and a chairman.
The chairman will be a person who fulfills the eligibility criteria to be a high court judge.
A draft bill of the proposal has been forwarded to a special committee for further development.
The primary tasks of the commission would be to probe allegations against government officials, highlight differences between duties and private interests, and sentence those found guilty of misusing authority.
Citizens can raise complaints against government officers and employees at the commission as well.
