KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday sought a copy of the Supreme Court decision about VVIPs security.

The bench issued these directives while hearing a case about the security of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Hearing the case, the bench remarked that the apex court had ordered withdrawing government-provided security.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) chief justice remarked that providing protection and security is the responsibility of the state.

The counsel of Bilawal Bhutto said, “We are not demanding security for every person.”

“Tell me, how many police personnel have been posted for the security of Bilawal Bhutto?” the chief justice asked from the lawyer. “How many police officials have been posted outside the residence of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari today?” the bench further questioned.

Bilawal’s counsel replied, “Bilawal Bhutto’s security is not a provincial matter. It is the responsibility of the centre.”

“What are the Supreme Court’s orders on the security of those not having any government office?” the bench questioned. The bench further sought the copy of the apex court’s decision over the matter.

The bench then adjourned the hearing till January 15.
