PERTH: The fourth day of the Perth Test grew tensed as it witnessed Indian and Australian skippers resuming their war of words.

Following a heated conversation on the third day, Virat Kohli and Tim Paine again waged a war of words on Thursday morning, prompting the umpire Chris Gaffaney to warn both the skippers.

Kohli collided with Paine halfway in the pitch to collect the ball while the latter was completing a single. The incident was followed by a heated argument between the captains.

Kohli to Paine: “I’m not saying a word to you, why are you getting riled up?”
“I’m fine. You’re the one that lost it yesterday, why are you trying to be cool today?”, replied Paine.
“… come on, play the game. You guys are the captains,” interrupted Gaffaney.
“Tim you’re the captain,” said Gaffaney to Paine.
Prior to the incident, India lost early wickets in the second Test on a fast deteriorating pitch. India requires 287 to win the game after Aussies were dismissed for 243 in their second innings.
