Pak-China JCC to meet on Dec 20

BEIJING: The 8th meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will be held in the Chinese capital on Dec 20.

The JCC is the most important official forum for discussing CPEC-related projects and issues through mutual consultation and consensus.

A framework agreement on industrial cooperation is expected to be signed to pave the way for development of special economic zones (SEZs).

Under the framework, Chinese and Pakistani investors will be encouraged to relocate their industries in SEZs, officials said on Saturday.

The Pakistani delegation will be led by the Federal Minister for Planning and Development Makhdum Khusro Bakhtiar.  The delegation may include all the four provincial chief ministers, prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and chief executive of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

According to the sources, Pakistan has decided to place several key projects before the JCC during its upcoming meeting.

These projects include $2 billion Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), socio-economic development projects from all provinces and Gwadar infrastructure projects.

The 7th meeting JCC was held Islamabad that had reviewed and approved various development projects under the CPEC.
