KARACHI: The police on Saturday arrested a man, who is part of a gang involved in child abductions and sexual abuse, from Quaidabad area of the port city.
The arrested suspect Murad confessed that he and his gang members used to kidnap children and then hand them over to Sohail and Kamran for sexual exploitation
He also told the police that each child was sold to the two sexual predators for a sum of Rs1,500 to Rs2,000.
Speaking to the media, the police revealed that they had raided Murad’s house and recovered a seven-year-old child he had kidnapped recently, adding that law enforcers were on the hunt for Sohail and Kamran all over the city.
Non-governmental organisation (NGO) Sahil, in its Cruel Numbers Report, states that a total 2,322 cases of child abuse were reported in media in the first half of 2018 alone, a 32 per cent increase from last years statistics.
