LAHORE: Music streaming app Patari released a song in remembrance of the Peshawar Army Public School (APS) tragedy on December 16, 2018, including an animated video to spread the message of peace.
VIDEO:
On 16 December 2014, six gunmen affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) conducted a terrorist attack on the APS in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar. The militants, all of whom were foreign nationals, killed 149 people including 132 school children, ranging between eight and eighteen years of age making it one of the world’s deadliest school massacres.
Sung and composed by Ali Aftab Saeed, “Bohot Ho Chuki Nafratein” encapsulates the message of peace to douse the raging flames of extremism and hatred in the country.
In a comment, the vocalist said, “I know many people believe that corruption is the biggest menace we face at the moment but I think religious extremism and terrorism outweighs it.”
“We need to address it more even though it’s not a safe thing to do. I’d like to thank Zeeshan Noel for introducing me to this poetry and Mukhtar Javed [lyricist] for writing this heartfelt poetry,” Ali added.
Patari Co-founder Humayun Haroon, while talking about the project, said, “We hope that on this terrible day, as we remember the countless precious lives lost, we also remind ourselves that only a message of peace and unity can conquer the crusade of hatred.”
The music streaming company’s in-house animator Hamza Salar did the artwork for the video while it has been produced by Saad Sultan.
The video song released on December 16 (Sunday).
