Mother of Akmal brothers passes away

LAHORE: The mother of Pakistan cricketing trio Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal and Adnan Akmal passed away on Friday in Lahore.

Adnan Akmal broke the news of his mother’s demise on Twitter, stating, “Unfortunately my mother is no more this sad happening took place this morning please remember her [in] your prayers. May Allah grant her a high rank in Jannah Ameen.”

His elder brother and wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal was told the news while he was leading Lahore Whites against Rawalpindi region in the National T20 Cup in Multan. Adnan Akmal is also a part of the tournament and representing Lahore Blues.

Both the competing teams, Lahore Whites and Rawalpindi region, gathered in the dressing room at the Multan Cricket Stadium to condole the grieving brothers.

The two matches at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Thursday, including Lahore Blues against Islamabad region, which was scheduled at 3pm, were reduced to 15 overs each to relieve the grieving cricketers.

After the departure of Lahore Whites’ captain Kamran Akmal, Salman Butt took over the reins.

Meanwhile, Pakistani cricketers have also condoled with Adnan Akmal in their replies to his tweet.

Sarfraz Ahmad, national cricket team captain said that “May Allah give patience to you and higher ranks to your mother in Jannah”.

Fast bowler, Muhammad Amir, also condoled with the cricketer.
