PESHAWAR: Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Office on Friday said that work on delimitation of 16 provincial assembly constituencies in the merged tribal district was in progress and the final list would be displayed on March 4, 2019.
ECP’s Gender Affairs Director General Haroon Khan Shinwari said this while addressing gender and disability electoral working group at the office of PAIMAN Alumni Trust on Friday.
He said that the interim list would be issued on December 31 and the people could file complaints on delimitation with ECP from January 1 to January 30, adding that the decision on the complaints would be taken on March 1, 2019.
He said that ECP is going to launch an electioneering awareness campaign for male and female students from January next year.
He said that in this connection, letters have been dispatched to educational institutions, departments of the University of Peshawar and private colleges and universities to seek their cooperation in the awareness campaign.
He stressed the importance of participation from all segments of society in the political process especially women and special persons.
He said that every possible effort was made to facilitate disabled people at polling stations during the last general election enabling them to cast vote easily.
He informed that all those whose votes were registered in areas other than addresses mentioned in their CNIC should contact the election commission.
He called on all stakeholders, including political parties and civil society, to play their role to ensure the participation of women and special persons in the political and electoral process.
