ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) Secretary General Farhatullah Babar on Tuesday expressed the need for amendments in the laws of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and said that accountability should be done across-the-board.

Addressing a press conference along with Senator Maula Bakhsh Chandio, Dr Nafeesa Shah and Nayyer Hussain Bokhari, he said that the leadership and party workers would not succumb to any pressure.

Farhatullah claimed that NAB had served notices to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari soon after his address at a public gathering, where he criticised the government.

Nayyer Bokhari said that PPP always wanted NAB’s role to be impartial, and alleged that today NAB was being used to achieve political goals. He also said that PPPP President Asif Ali Zardari was kept behind bars for several years but nothing was proved against him. Today once again Zardari has been asked to appear before the NAB in a case, in which he never purchased any land, Nayyer Bokhari added.

He said that Pak Lane Company was established according to the law of the land and at that time Bilawal Bhutto’s age was below one year. He said that PPP will defend its leadership at every forum.

On the occasion, Maula Bakhsh Chandio said that PPP does not want to derail the democratic system and always worked to strengthen the democratic institutions.
