PPP sticking to same ‘wait and watch’ policy it had adopted when in govt, reveals Khurshid Shah

SUKKUR – Former opposition leader in the National Assembly and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Khurshid Shah Monday said the opposition party was sticking to the same “wait and watch” policy that it had adopted when it was in federal government.

“The incumbent government’s economic policies are highly flawed and lack vision. An inflation bomb has already been dropped on the people as the prices of petroleum, gas and electricity have been jacked,” he said during an informal conversation with journalists. “And considering this is exactly what we experienced when we were in power, we feel we should react exactly like we did, and not react.”

To a question, Khurshid said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has been “befooling” the masses for several years, but lacks the decades of experience that the PPP has doing the same.

“He will have to find a way to pretend to deliver on the ridiculous promises he has made to the people and if he opens his mind he can find helpful examples in how we managed it in the past.”

Shah further revealed that ‘wait and watch’ has been the party’s ethos over the past decade, and that it is working in achieving the goals that the PPP has set for itself.

“We’re still getting the numbers where we want them, and the balance sheets are nice as well. So this wait and watch policy is something that is working perfectly for us.”
