Pakistan Tehrik i Insaaf (PTI) Member of National Assembly (MNA) from Karachi’s NA 243 constituency Alamgir Khan has come under fire on social media for boasting about changing a street light in his constituency.
The NA 243 constituency that is now Alamgir Khan’s was the Karachi constituency from which PTI Chairman Imran Khan had himself contested in the General Elections in July and later left in favour of his home town seat of NA 95 Mianwali.
Alamgir Khan, who came to the National Assembly in October this year on by-elections, recently made a post on his Facebook page in which he gave a ‘before and after’ glimpse of Gulshan e Iqbal block 7.
The picture of a residential street shows the street dark with a street light in the distance, with the ‘after’ picture including a single, new street light.
A different post with more pictures and videos claimed that broken street lights were also either fixed or replaced in a total of four blocks of Gulshan e Iqbal including blocks 4a, 2 and 5 in addition to block 7.
However, it is also not clear whether this was undertaken by Alamgir Khan as a lawmaker working in his community or as a social worker, since the machinery being used to replace the lights was branded with Khan’s social work group ‘#FixIt’.
The post was not particularly well received, with most people ridiculing what the PTI MNA was touting as progress in his constituency.
