Security guard in doctor’s chair checks patients at KTH

PESHAWAR: A security guard of the Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) was allowed to check patients, SAMMA channel Editor Investigations Iftikhar Firdous revealed on Wednesday.

The information came to light when a photo of the guard interacting with patients went viral on social media. The security guard, who sitting on a doctor’s chair, was checking the blood pressure of patients.

According to a notification of the hospital, six officials involved in the matter have been suspended. The suspended officials include DMS of night shift Dr Inayatullah, two service line managers Saddam Hussain and Ameer Badshah, in-charge nurse Saeedullah, Shahida Shams and Noreen Fazal. Additionally, the guard checking the patient’s has been sacked.

The notification further adds that the chairman and a senior hospital administrator explain the matter and “submit why the above officials should not be terminated for incompetence”.

An investigation has been initiated into the matter.
