209 Hindu pilgrims arrive at Wagah Border

LAHORE: As many as 209 Hindu pilgrims on Wednesday arrived in the country via the Wagah Border to perform their religious rituals at the Shadani Darbar in Mirpur Mathelo city of Sindh’s Ghotki district.

Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Secretary Muhammad Tariq Wazir and local Hindu leaders welcomed the pilgrims.

Speaking on the occasion, Wazir said that all arrangements, including that of accommodation, transport and security, had been completed by the board.

“We have come with a message of brotherhood, peace and love,” group leader Youjester Laal told media persons.

“We feel safe in Pakistan and our Pakistani Hindu brothers and sisters enjoy complete religious freedom. We will pray for Pakistan’s prosperity as well,” he said.

Later, the pilgrims left for Sindh where a central ceremony will be held at Shadani Darbar on December 6. The pilgrims will visit their historical religious sites, including Sadhu Bela Mandar, during their stay in Sindh.

They will return to India on December 16.
