KARACHI: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Tuesday registered a case regarding the car bomb explosion that occurred in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Khayaban-e-Mujahid area on Monday.
The first information report (FIR) which has been registered on behalf of the state includes anti-terrorism clauses and those of the Explosives Act.
The FIR states, “Unknown terrorists had planned a big attack. A homemade vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) which was attached to six gas cylinders caused the car explosion.”
“Two packets of explosive material, weighing 2kgs and 6kgs respectively, were recovered from the site of the blast,” the FIR added.
On Monday, a bomb exploded inside a car parked in a plot in Khayaban-e-Mujahid area.
A homemade vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) caused the explosion in the car, which had been stolen from Jamshed Quarter the previous evening, DIG South Karachi Javed Odho informed.
The bomb failed to detonate completely, and the explosion was aimed at spreading fear in the area, the official added.
