KARACHI: A car exploded in the provincial capital’s Khadda Market area on Monday morning after it was stolen on Sunday night.
According to reports, no casualties have yet been reported.
According to DIG South Karachi Javed Odho, the explosion was caused by a homemade Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED).
Odho explained that there were at least 8-10kg of explosives in addition to seven gas cylinders in the car connected with a detonating cord which was 6 metres long.
The DIG added that the bomb failed to explode properly as well.
A bomb disposal squad was called on the site to assess the incident and clear the area. Samples from the car were collected by the squad for further investigations.
