PM says relations with UAE will further strengthen

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday said that relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are based on mutual support and cooperation and will further strengthen in the future.

In felicitation letters to the leadership of UAE on its 47th National Day, the premier said that the development, prosperity and good governance of the UAE is exemplary in a short period of 47 years.

He said that it is a matter of confidence that relations between the two countries have changed into a long-term strategic economic partnership through improving bilateral and expanding relations in all sectors.

The PM also expressed his wishes and sentiments on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan to the leadership of the UAE praying for its development and prosperity.

Earlier this month, Pakistan and the UAE resolved to strengthen bilateral trade and economic ties, besides fostering cooperation to deal with transnational organised crime, including money laundering, drug and human trafficking.

Bilateral ties were discussed in the meetings between the Emirati leadership and Prime Minister Imran Khan who paid a day-long visit to the Emirates, on the invitation of UAE Armed Forces Deputy Supreme Commander and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to a Foreign Office (FO) statement.

The prime minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood and Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
