Govt to scrutinise KPT land allotment files

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Ali Zaidi on Sunday ordered to see the audit of land allotted to Karachi Port Authority (KPT) and Port Qasim during the last 20 years.

While speaking to the media, the minister said that each KPT file he reviews reveals a new corruption, therefore, he would also be submitting the files to relevant investigation authorities so that they may initiate an official probe regarding the matter.

“Karachi cannot be fixed without fixing KPT,” he added.

Speaking about the anti-encroachment drive in the port city, Zaidi wondered who had permitted the encroachments and earned money by scamming poor people. He said that the chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) should look into the matter.

Further, Zaidi also defended Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s statement on U-turns, saying that even Quaid-e-Azam defected to the Muslim League after being a part of Congress as decisions must be changed according to the need of the hour.
