Premier satisfied with federal cabinet’s performance

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday expressed satisfaction over a report on the targets achieved by the members of the federal cabinet.

Chairing a meeting of the cabinet, he also directed the members to further increase the pace of work in their respective departments.

An eight-point agenda, including reforms in Gilgit-Baltistan and the country’s security and economic situation, was also discussed.

During the meeting, cabinet members accorded approval for the expansion in fencing and lighting on Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan whereas an approval was also given for Ministry of Trade and Industry’s National Tariff Policy.

Cabinet members further accorded an approval for a proposed grant for Radio Pakistan and the formation of a search committee for the appointment of a vice chairman of the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University.

An approval was also given for ECC’s decisions and appointment of members and directors in nine different institutions.

The federal cabinet meeting also decided to continue its ongoing accountability drive and expressed resolve to bring looted money back to Pakistan.

The premier directed the cabinet members to ensure that no employees working in government departments were sacked from service whereas the meeting also decided to separate tax policy from revenue administration in line with the manifesto of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Moreover, the decisions of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet taken during its meeting on November 22 were ratified.

The decisions included a grant for disbursement of provident fund, gratuity and payroll due to the heirs of deceased employees of Pakistan Steel Mills, natural gas load management during winter 2018-19 and release of public sector’s surplus wheat to Poultry Association of Pakistan.

Prime Minister’s Adviser on Establishment Mohammad Shahzad Arbab, on the occasion, briefed the cabinet members on the 100-day plan targets met by the government.
