ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday adjourned contempt of court proceedings against Member of National Assembly (MNA), Aamir Liaquat Hussain for an indefinite period.

A two-member bench comprising of Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Faisal Arab adjourned the case due to non-availability of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, who is head of the bench.

On the previous hearing, the court had framed a charge-sheet against the accused after rejecting his unconditional apology and maintained that the politician had violated court orders on March 6, 2017; however, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader pleaded not guilty. “I seek an unconditional apology and leave myself at the mercy of the court,” Liaquat said during the hearing.

Liaquat was charged under Article 204 (3) of the Constitution.
