The Pakistani High Commissioner in Malaysia Mohammad Nafees Zakaria on Thursday called on the Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Mohamad and extended an invitation to attend Pakistan’s National Day on March 23 next year.

The high commissioner conveyed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s greetings and thanks for the warm hospitality and courtesies extended during the visit, which he undertook last week.

Reiterating the premier’s invitation to the Malaysian prime minister, Zakariya said that Mahathir Mohamad’s visit to Pakistan on the occasion of its National Day, celebrated on 23rd March 2019, was keenly awaited.

The Pakistani high commissioner mentioned that PM Imran was highly satisfied with the outcome of the visit.

Zakaria availed the opportunity to brief the Malaysian prime minister on the substantive outcome of the Malaysian investors’ interaction with Prime Minister Imran Khan during the visit and the follow-up action that has been started. He said that the investment sectors in which Malaysian investors plan to venture in were high on priorities list of the government.

Prime Minister Mahathir welcomed Malaysian investments in Pakistan and reassured his government’s support in strengthening investments and trade promotion between the two countries.

Zakaria also highlighted the potential for cooperation in the export of Pakistani skilled and semi-skilled manpower, particularly in the IT sector, industrial scale manufacturing in the electronics field, and investment in exploration in the oil and gas sector.

He appreciated the Malaysian premier’s consideration for addressing the trade imbalance as well.

Prime Minister Mahathir reaffirmed support in further advancing the bilateral relations between the two countries.
