CDA, admin retrieve 15,000 kanals of land during anti-encroachment operations

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration during anti-encroachment operations in the city retrieved 15,000 kanals of land worth around Rs357 billion from illegal occupants.

The operations were conducted by the authorities against those who had illegally grabbed the state land for the past many years.

Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat said that the city administration and CDA jointly started the-anti encroachment drive in the capital and it would continue without any fear or pressure.

He said that the areas where massive operations were conducted included Bari Imam, Korang Nullah, Kashmir Highway, Islamabad Expressway and Tarnol.

During the operation in Tarnol which continued for four days, more than 1,000 kanals of encroached state land was retrieved from illegal occupants.

During the anti-encroachment operation in Doori Bagh and Dhoke Taile in the vicinity of Bari Imam, many illegal constructions were demolished and kanals of state land was recovered from illegal occupants.

The staff of CDA’s Environment Wing and MPO Directorate also participated in the operation while the magisterial cover was provided by the district administration, he added.

The director enforcement said that CDA issued notices to the violators before starting an operation and now the civic body is publishing advertisements in newspapers in this regard.

He said that CDA had also issued a notice to Bahria Enclave for handing over 510 kanals of state land and recently the Bahria Enclave, through a letter, had told the authority that it has vacated 400 kanals of land and other 100 kanals would also be vacated soon.

He said that CDA had conducted these operations jointly with ICT administration and capital police and no untoward incident occurred during these operations.
