LAHORE: Lahore Police have arrested as many as 13,851 criminals within the past 100 days, a performance report issued by the department on Wednesday said.
According to the report, both officers and officials of the Lahore Police showed excellent performance to curb street crime and drug peddling.
As per details of the action against criminals, at least 1,274 pistols, 79 rifles, 14 Kalashnikovs, 62 guns, 10 daggers, 3 carbines and more than 17,115 bullets were recovered. 25,850 bottles of liquor, 571 kg hash, 16 kg heroin and 21 kg of opium were also confiscated.
The police also recovered more than Rs1.6 million from gamblers whereas, on secret tip-offs, 3,929 accused were arrested in cases pertaining to one-wheeling, kite flying, aerial firing and price control. The arrestees also included those nominated in cases under the Foreigners Act, Marriage Act and the Sound System Act.
