Renowned Pakistani designer Mohsin Naveed Ranjha known for his traditional and rich designs has collaborated with Indian magazine Filmfare and dressed the newly-married Ranveer Singh for the cover.
Ranveer, popular for his flamboyant and eccentric dressing, looked absolutely regal and fierce on the cover image in a black ensemble with bronze motives, sporting his signature mustache with panache.
In another picture shared by Filmfare, Ranveer wears a brown-taupe outfit with a ruffled shirt and embroidered shoes, which as per the designer the actor loved.
The clothes match Ranveer’s persona perfectly and it appears that Ranveer too agrees with this.
Speaking about wearing the Pakistani designer’s outfits, Ranveer said he loved the fact that they were designed keeping in mind his personality and how well they matched the beard and mustache he was sporting in the shoot. Ranveer further said that Mohsin “nicely blended with clothes with the locations.”
“Mohsin’s designs were very rich and regal, and the shoes in particular were my favourite. I loved the embroidery done on both the clothes and shoes,” Ranveer said, adding that he plans to wear more of Mohsin’s designs in the future.
Meanwhile, speaking to Pakistan Today, Mohsin shared that he had been in touch with Ranveer’s stylist for the past two years but a plan was not materialising due to conflicts in schedules. However, it finally translated into reality earlier this year in July when Ranjha flew to London where the shoot took place.
Mohsin shared that the shoot was done all over London – Oxford Street, Hyde Park, King’s Garden – in the span of a day, and he designed three ensembles for Ranveer to wear. Mohsin revealed that Ranveer was very particular about the way he wanted to be dressed, to the point he had his hairstylist changed during the shoot, and the designs and colours had to be approved by him, even though all of them were under contract.
But Mohsin said that he did not mind any of it. He said the entire experience was wonderful and he enjoyed every minute of the shoot.
When asked about how Ranveer is as a person, Mohsin responded, “Ranveer was an absolute joy to be around. He is full of energy and radiates positivity. He is extremely professional and humble, making everything a breeze.”
Sharing the inside details of the shoot, Mohsin added that he had an exciting conversation with Ranveer on a variety of topics including Prime Minister Imran Khan, Maya Ali, Ali Zafar (with whom Ranveer worked in Kill Dil) and Teefa in Trouble.
When asked about his thoughts on such cross-border collaborations, Mohsin commented that the film and entertainment industry always facilitates the exchange of ideas and that these are essential for growth and development. Mohsin said that he hopes to see more of such collaborations.
Meanwhile, Filmfare on why they chose Ranveer for the cover of this year’s last issue, said on their website, “He’s game charger, a trailblazer, a style icon and one of the most celebrated actors of the industry right now. With so many feathers added to his hat on the professional front and a celebratory year personally, Ranveer Singh is the biggest newsmaker of the year 2018.”
They further wrote, “He started the year with a bang with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. He then spent the next few months working on big projects like Gully Boy, Simmba and 83. He also signed Karan Johar’s next magnum opus Takht.”
“However, Ranveer made the biggest news few days back when he tied the knot with superstar and long-time girlfriend, Deepika Padukone. A dreamy wedding in Italy, following by a regal reception in Bengaluru and much more to come, Ranveer is surely ending his year on a brilliant high.”
Ranveer’s wedding to Deepika was one of the most anticipated events of the year. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Italy’s picturesque Lake Como on November 14 and 15, before hosting a reception last week in Deepika’s hometown Bengaluru. They will be hosting two more receptions in Mumbai for their industry friends and the media.
