ISLAMABAD: Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla on Wednesday said that Pakistan wants to further strengthen its ties with Russia in areas beneficial for both countries.

“Pakistan places its relations with Russia at high esteem and we desire to further expand ties to other areas for the mutual benefit of people of the two sides,” he said during a meeting with the Russian ambassador.

He said that trade and business needed to be enhanced between the two sides.

He also emphasised the need for increased parliamentary linkages as both the sides could explore new vistas of bilateral cooperation through such high-level interactions.

He also appreciated Russian participation in IDEAS 2018 being held in Karachi.

He said that the business community of the two countries needed to be brought closer for investment and steps needed to be taken to create a conducive environment for mutual benefit. The Russian ambassador agreed with the views of Senate deputy chairman and said that there is huge scope for investment and trade in different sectors.
